To organise the Volunteer & Farmer Alliance Project in Orkney & Shetland. This involves arranging 20 farm surveys in the year, by finding and pairing trained RSPB volunteers with farmers/crofters. Successful candidates will have an ability to enthuse a substantial body of farmers/crofters and volunteers and to deal with problems with tact and diplomacy. Applicants should have bird ID and survey skills, some understanding of farmland bird ecology and some knowledge of UK agricultural policy and practice. As the post involves analysing bird data, the postholder must be computer literate (a working knowledge of GIS is desirable) and quick to learn new skills.
£16,000 to £18,000 pro-rata
